Quality Control Inspector/Tester
Seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team. Position involves a variety of duties in both lab and factory settings and includes testing, measuring and visual inspection. Also assists with department projects.

Experience in the wire and cable industry is preferred. This is a full time 40+ hour position. Flexibility to work different shifts occasionally is required. Process Engineer
Quabbin Wire & Cable Co., Inc., a $20MM manufacturer of electronic cable products, is seeking an engineering professional to assist the Vice President of Engineering. This individual will develop, monitor, support and document processes and methods used in the manufacture of wire and cable. Working independently, the process engineer will collect and analyze data, apply appropriate engineering principles and implement changes to solve manufacturing process problems. He or she will participate in new product projects from concept through product development and production implementation, and will interface extensively with manufacturing, maintenance, engineering and quality personnel.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures optimization and standardization of manufacturing processes. Analyzes yield and process data and manages process improvements to achieve quality standards and reduce overall production cost. Creates required drawings and schematics. Leads others in establishing and implementing quality, efficiency, maintenance and safety controls and improvements. Works with design engineering to resolve design issues that impact efficiency.
- Participates in planning and problem-solving related to bringing new products to market. Supports new product development by aiding design for efficient manufacture and creates bills of materials, routings, and fixtures for new products. Coordinates and monitors the manufacture of prototype cables. Coordinates transfer of new products from prototype phase to regular manufacture. Ensures transfer of knowledge between R&D, design engineering and manufacturing functions.
- Identifies and manages tooling requirements and documentation. Performs tooling design and evaluation and develops standards. Ensures effective implementation of tooling changes in manufacturing processes.
- Coordinates with manufacturing, maintenance and engineering to identify, justify, specify, select and implement process and/or equipment upgrades and modifications to expand and maintain manufacturing capabilities. Interfaces with equipment vendors to resolve problems, performs vendor assessments and evaluates potential new vendor relationships. Evaluates facility layout and recommends changes if needed.
- Creates and ensures maintenance of technical documentation for manufacturing, including material and process information, manufacturing procedures and standards, work instructions and process sheets. Creates process flow charts. Ensures change control and standardization of all documentation. Develops and maintains the knowledge of product specification and tests and key industry and OEM specifications.
- Researches and evaluates new materials, compounds and additives for applications. Leads the development of materials and processing techniques using knowledge of materials properties. Maintains an awareness of current commercially available materials and works closely with material suppliers and the materials department to solve material and process related problems. Helps develop and maintain materials database.
- Participates in complex technical projects to ensure that the systems and processes developed are compatible with production, cost and quality goals and requirements. Works closely with design engineering and manufacturing personnel during development phases of projects to ensure project timeframes are met.
- Identifies, develops and conducts effective training as needed to achieve processing goals and requirements. Assists with the initial and ongoing training and education of manufacturing personnel.
- Participates in product design review; works with design engineering on design modifications.
- Performs other duties and complete assignments as requested by company management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years experience in engineering within the wire and cable or similar industry.
- Experience with lean management and ISO 9000.
- Strong materials knowledge (especially plastics).
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and CAD software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.
- Demonstrated time management and project management skills.
