Engineering Technician – Process Improvement

Reports to:

  • Process Engineering Manager

Work Schedule:

  • 9.5 hour shift with 30 minute unpaid meal break
  • Standard schedule is 7am – 5pm, Mon-Fri
  • Altered shifts as needed, including occasional night shift backup; flexibility is required

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Process Engineering Technician provides technical support for continual improvement of manufacturing processes.

  1. Monitors processes to confirm that critical parameters for product performance are met.
  2. Assists with projects for continual improvement of processes.
  3. Assists with process troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  4. Performs verification of process start-ups.
  5. Provides training to internal personnel for new products and processes.
  6. Assists with process qualifications.
  7. Assists in the sourcing and installation of peripheral process equipment.
  8. Performs electrical and mechanical tests on materials as needed for process improvement initiatives.
  9. Provides data collection and analysis.
  10. Assists in preparation and maintenance of engineering and quality-related documentation.
  11. Assists in maintenance of monitoring equipment.
  12. Completes a variety of other projects, duties and assignments for engineering management.
  13. Attends work regularly and reliably.

Education, Experience, & Knowledge

  1. Associates degree in technical area or equivalent experience in engineering or manufacturing
  2. Strong mechanical aptitude
  3. Solid math skills and aptitude
  4. Effective interpersonal communication skills (email, instructions, questioning, training etc.)
  5. Good computer skills/aptitude; familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and CAD software
  6. Effective documentation and writing skills
  7. Strong work ethic and time management skills
  8. Research experience; accessing, compiling and prioritizing data to solve problems
  9. Background in a manufacturing environment; wire & cable experience is preferred
  10. Experience with statistics and statistical process control is a plus
